Ingredients for warm apple raisin oatmeal
- 1 cups milk of your choice
- 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup diced apple
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp real vanilla
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 pinch Celtic sea salt
How to make apple and raisin oatmeal
- In a saucepan, add the milk, & oats. Bring to a boil and turn it down right away so that the milk does not boil over.
- Once it has started boiling, put the heat down so that it’s simmering and cook for about 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
- Add in 1/2 cup of the diced apple & raisins. Continue to cook for about 2-3 more minutes.
- Check the consistency of your oats, add more milk if you want your porridge more creamy instead of thick.
- Add in the maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and sea salt and give it a final stir.
- Top off with the rest of the diced apple.
To make this breakfast even cozier, I love adding a splash of warm milk to my bowl right before digging in. A little extra drizzle of maple syrup on top ties it all together, making every bite creamy, sweet, and absolutely perfect!

Why maple syrup is used in this recipe
Maple syrup is a fantastic alternative to brown sugar, and it’s one of my favorite swaps in recipes like this one.
Unlike brown sugar, which is highly processed, maple syrup is a natural sweetener that comes straight from trees.
It contains minerals like zinc and manganese, giving it a slight nutritional edge over brown sugar.
Plus, its rich, caramel-like flavor adds a deeper, more complex sweetness that complements warm ingredients like apples and cinnamon perfectly.
It’s also easier to dissolve, making your oatmeal smooth and evenly sweetened. For a natural, flavorful touch, maple syrup is a win! Here’s a list of some of the best tasting maple syrup.
