Freeze Dried Food FAQs
How To Store Freeze Dried Food
Storing freeze dried food properly is key to keeping it fresh for longer. To maintain its quality, keep it in an airtight container, such as a vacuum-sealed jar or Mylar bag with an oxygen absorber. HarvestRight has all of the things you need to store your freeze dried food. Store the food in a cool, dry place, away from heat and direct sunlight. This will help preserve its taste and texture.
Why Did My Freeze Dried Food Turn Soggy?
If your freeze dried food is soggy, it’s likely because moisture got to it. To fix this, make sure you’re storing it in an airtight container, away from humidity and heat. If it’s already soggy, try placing it in a dehydrator or a warm, dry place to help remove the excess moisture. Here’s a list of some of the top selling food dehydrators on Amazon.
If it’s a snack like freeze dried fruit, you could also try placing it back in the freezer for a bit to re-crisp it. Going forward, always make sure your containers are sealed tightly to keep moisture out. So it’s basically all about keeping the air out.
