Easy Pecan Squares Recipe
Pecan Squares Ingredients
Pecan Squares Crust
1 cup flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
2/3 cup unsalted butter
1/3 cup sugar
pinch of Celtic sea salt
Pecan Squares Filling
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 pinch of Celtic sea salt
4 eggs lightly beaten
1 1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tsp real vanilla
2 cups roughly chopped pecans (ok if some are whole)
Pecan Squares Crust Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Grease a 9 inch square pan and line it with parchment paper. You will want the parchment paper to hang over the sides for easy removal of the pecan squares.
- In a food processor, add the flour, oats, butter, sugar and salt. Pulse until it is a crumbly dough. Scrape down the sides and add 2 tbsp of cold water. Pulse the dough again until a smooth ball forms.
- Press the dough into your greased pan in an even layer.
- Bake for about 15-18 minutes. The edges should be slightly browned.
Pecan Squares Filling Instructions
- While the crust is baking, stir together the brown sugar, flour and salt.
- In another bowl, add the eggs and lightly whisk them. Add the maple syrup & vanilla and whisk until smooth.
- Add the brown sugar mixture and stir in the pecans.
- Pour the mixture over the hot crust.
- Bake for about 40 minutes. You will know when it is done baking when the filling is set and the top is slightly browned.
Once your pecan squares are done baking, you can either let it sit to cool or put it in the fridge to chill for about 30 minutes. Once it’s cool, cut it up into squares.
